In 1994, there was genocide in Rwanda. This was followed by an exodus of refugees and war injured victims to the then Eastern Zaire, new Eastern Congo.

World Rehabilitation Fund, UNHCR and Dr. Wanume Kale established the first Rehabilitation program in Uvira town Eastern Zaire now Eastern Congo. This was the nucleus of Rehabilitation programs in the Great Lakes area.

In 1998, Worls Rehabilitation Fund, Rotary International, Rotary Jipur Limb Project, RC Kampala North, and Dr. Wanume Kale established the first Jaipur Limb Workshop in Uganda, at Kumi Hospital, Eastern Uganda.

In 2001, World Rehabilitation Fund, Rotary International, Rotary Jaipur Limb Project, RC Kyambogo , and Dr. Wanume Kale established the Second Jaipur Limb Workshop in Uganda at Buluba Hospital near Iganga Town.

Sponsorship of amputees can be done by all:
Individuals, companies, corporations, NGOs, banks, embassies, governments, development partners, etc:

Sponsorship for one or many clients (amputees) can be done by paying to the project bank account with Rotary Club of Kyambogo, or to the Great Lakes Rehabilitation Center account with Bank of Baroda.
